Mie Prefectural Kumano Kodo Center
This center was built to commemorate the registration of Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Routes as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The center provides information to visitors about the pilgrimage routes as well as information about the general region to promote the exchange between people in the area and tourists. The building was constructed using 6,500 locally grown Japanese cypress trees, and serves as an excellent example of the beauty and strength of traditional Japanese architecture that uses linear design. The Exchange Building has a large hall and a small hall. The large hall can accommodate 200 people for a conference, or 100 people for a buffet-style reception.
